知道为什么美国七月四号的庆祝活动老用1812序曲吗?

这个问题在俺脑子里有几年了,但也是连GOO 都懒得GOOLE一下的,
也因为这个问题一年才一次,第二天就忘了:-).
碰巧昨天车上收音机说了:
那是因为,波士顿通俗管弦乐团的前任指挥:阿瑟.菲得勒在1974年
美国国庆的活动里,想要弄一些巨大的响动和音乐一起,于是老柴的
"1812序曲"加上加农炮放炮,就成了这个30多年的传统了.
(大意是这样,有谁知道更多的可以补充)
其实1812序曲的历史背景与美国的历史一点关系也没有.
一个老美写道:
"Playing the 1812 Overture on America's birthday is an ongoing tradition that everyone welcomes, but almost no one understands."
In 1812, the US also fought a war, this one is with British Canada. The Whitehouse was burned down by British troops during this war. It is only after this war the identity of the American nation was truely formed.
The Star Spangle Banner (the US national anthem) was also written by Francis Scott Key during the war of 1812.
