1) The name Silicon is originated from the Latin word silex (燧石),which is a type of quartz.
2) Silicon has 3 different stable natural isotopes: Si28, Si29 and Si30. These isotopes contribute to Silicon's average atomic mass, i.e.atomic weight in the periodic table: 28.0855, based on their abundance.
3) Silicon is also a major element in the Earth's mantle (~21.5% in weight).
