已经过了激情的年龄，外面的生活也过于平淡。在这个坛子上我曾经以三个不同的笔
名写过四首，仅仅从不敢用真笔名这一点，就可以猜想出来那些所谓诗的水平了。
同意你和日尧的看法，诗，至少以意境取胜的诗是很难译的。正如你曾经说的，写
诗要注意文字之外的美，所谓文字之外的美就是无法直言、不能直言的意境。这种
依赖于特定的文字和文化，字里行间的美，在仅仅按照文字的含义翻译成另外一种
语言时，往往被破坏甚至荡然无存了；如果刻意追求意境的转达，文字之美就难以
传承了。比如李商隐的无题诗就几乎无法翻译。英诗汉译也是一样。
我非常喜欢朗弗罗的THE ARROW AND THE SONG(原文见下面)。记得椰兄曾经贴过它
的一个汉译版，读起来总不如原诗好。
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
