回答: Christian moral system is not universal always makes me feel bad about it. 由 waterfire 于 July 09, 2002 13:44:28:
(Here, if I wrote in Chinese, it would be much better: A lot of terms I do not how to translate into English. I will be brief. I hope I can still make the point.)
Confucius’ more system is based on science instead of religion.
Biology has a big role in Confucius’s moral system: parenting and the order system.
To have the system more universal, Confucius stressed one direction: young generation must respect its ancestor generation. For Confucius, it is nature that old generation will love the younger generation. But this is not universal enough. Because, some people may not have children. On the other hand, everyone will have parents.
Psychology is another foundation of Confucius’ system. “heart to heart” is a key: you feed your kids, that is why you would feed the other’s kids. If you do not like certain things happen on you, you should avoid making these happen to others.
There is no God needed in this system: you soul will not be punished if you failed.
Confucius thought God has not much on you. Instead, you have the initiative: Keep a distance from God. (You can do it because God in not in control! If you keep distance, you will have a clear mind.) Do not talk about super nature.
(Sorry again, if in Chinese, I could quote some of Confucius’ words.)
However, I hope I made the point: Chinese moral system, compare to Christian one, is more scientific (based on biology and psychology), non-religion (keep distance from God), more down to earth, more common sense (focus on your current life instead of arguing after life), is not based on threat (punish soul) but base on reason!
