Thank you for sharing the picture. Last time I saw him was when I visited him in 1983. There were many paintings in his small dorm.
Back in college, he and I took opportunity to follow the pretty "Penguin" on the stairs of Li Hua Lou when we go to classes in the morning. Thoses were fun days.
Still remember one painting that he did in college - rolling hills with desert like sand with groves stretched all the way to end of the land. Further away you can see several farm houses. Later he told me that painting reflected his memory of the villige he once lived and the long walk home after school along the country road, many times behind a girl he adored at that time. He even asked and got a shirt the girl used to wear. I knew then aside from a young man of incredible intelligence, free spirit,and artistic telant, he is also a sentimental type and a man with genuine feelings to others.
It was unfortunate that I missed him in Beijing this summer.
