When I was young, I did not like poker games. In my mind, poker games are not fair because the one hold good card would win. I made jokes towards my card playing friends: you picked the cards up and then put them down. It was so boring that was why you had to talk about the process why you doing it. I was so stubborn I refuse to play poker and many times my friends end up with “got three, but still need one.”
I enjoyed chess better. It was almost perfectly fair: each player had the same material. The only place affected its perfact-ness was someone had to move first.

Well, age took my energy away, it also changed my view on the fairness of chess and poker.
I finally realized, may be my friends were right: actually poker was much faire than chess.
Yes, chess has equal material for both players. But actually, it was not the source of fairness. Think about it: the players are not the same. The ability of the player will favor the strong one, and give the strong one the victory.
On the other hand, chance plays a much greater role in poker. The ability of the player is not as important in a usual poker game (except bridge). Here, chance give the weaker player a chance to be the winner. Chance gives everyone a chance to test the victory.
That was why player are so excited in talking the games: If I have that card then the result would be different. Next time, I will have that card…
You see, there is also hope too.
I wish I could turn time back, to say sorry to my friends, sorry that I understand things so slow, so late, to make up for the “got three, but still need one” caused by me….
