The Sea Monster

Me and my friend, duckling were making a giant sand fort. I am crab. I was working on the drawbridge. Soon we were done. He got half the sand fort and I got the other half. I was digging a hole for a bed when my claws hit something hard. It was silver in color and sounded like metal. I dug up some more sand to see what it was. Just then Duckling came into my room to see how I was doing. When he saw the silvery thing he asked, “What is that?” “I don’t know”, I answered. “I’ll dig up more of it”. In a few minutes I could see clearly what it was.

“It’s a big tube”, duckling said. Then he peered into the tube. He said, “It is too dark to see”. “Then let’s go down there”, I said, “It is big enough. “OK”, he said, “but if I get eaten, I am going to be really grumpy when I wake up”. So we went down the tube.

I flopped down on my shell, and then Duck gave me a push. Then he jumped into the tube after me. While I was going down the tube, I saw the words “Sea Monster”. When I landed on a pile of rocks I knew I better get out of the way fast, or duck would land on me. “Thanks for the soft landing”, duck said. “It might have been for you, but next time don’t shove your foot into my mouth, OK”? I said while I spit out duck’s foot. “OK”, he said, “but I don’t think I will try that again”. I asked Duck, “did you see the writing on the tube”? “What writing”? “When I came down the tube, I saw words ‘sea monster’”, I said. “Lets go to see the sea monster”! Duck said.

Then I looked up. We were in a under ground cavern. Small holes peeked out in the rock walls, filling the cavern with shallow water. “Great, now we can swim to the other side”, duck said. Then he dove under water beak first. Then he came up with a small fish in his mouth. “Good, I can eat this”, duck said, “I didn’t get to eat for hours”. By then I was also chewing on a fish too.

“These fish aren’t poisonous, are they”? I asked. “I don’t feel any different”, duck said, “come on, let’s go”. “OK, I am coming”, I said to him.

About half an hour later, we took a rest. “I am so tired”, duck moaned. Then he sat on a rock and fell asleep.

When Duck woke up we saw a giant fin swimming circles around us. Then it jumped out of the water at us. It was a big shark! When he was in midair, he asked, “where are you going”? I said, “to see the sea monster”. He said, “you are going there too? So am I”, as he splashed back into the water. I asked, “do you want to come with us?” He said, “sure, as long as there is plenty of fish to eat, especially rainbow trout”. “Okay”, Duck said, “lets go”.

Weeks had passed when we met the shark and we made small weapons with jagged rocks and fish bones. Finally we came to where the sea monster lived.

Two gigantic black rocks at least 12 feet up and 7 feet wide made the entrance. We nervously entered. We went through a bubble protector that keeps air in and water out. Duck accidentally tripped over a cord that made the entrance cave in. Now we were trapped in the cave with the sea monster.

The walls of the cave gave off creepy shadows. We walked a few paces (the shark had a magic ability to grow legs) and we saw the sea monster. The monster was vivid green and had a dark blue tail. It had a purple horn growing out of its head. The teeth were glowing green in colour. Three of us crouched in a corner. The monster was just waking up. It spotted us.

With a roar, the monster dove at us
