Thanks for sharing your very interesting story. I have heard many times that many scientists worry about being treated differently by colleagues once they are awarded the ultimate prize. Your story shows the best way to do that is to act the same way themselves. I once heard that Phillips was quite arrogant but maybe he changed after getting the prize.

Just to add to your story. Eric started as a post doc at MIT. His advisor was doing BEC experiment. He made significant progress near the end of Postdoc tenure and was considering going back to Europe afterwards. His advisor did not want him to leave but MIT cannot offer Eric a position either because no two faculties can be in the same area of research. In order to have Eric continue his work, his advisor changed his research direction and handled the whole laboratory to Eric. Eric quickly made breakthrough and did the work that won him a Noble Prize. After he came back from Stockholm, he made an exact copy of the the Medal and gave the real Medel to his advisor and keep the copy to himself. His advisor was seen proudly showing the real one to colleagues during the celebration party. This is truly amazing story.

On Bose Einstein Condensation. Although Einstein's name was associated with this, but according to C. N. Yang, Einstein did not seem to understand the different statistics when Yang was explain to Einstein his work on phase transition with Lee. Maybe this is typical of Einstein. He did not understand quantum mechanics either although he started the whole thing with his light quanta theory.

By the way, I like the Country broil too. It is very popular in Lousiana and Taxas. We do it with Crawfish though. Thanks again.
