2. was Rev. John Harper urging to save those non-Christians or to save those who don't believe in god, or to save those who don't believe in any god.
3. in face of that young guy survived due to the piece of plank Rev. John Harper proffered, Rev. John Harper probably would have saved more people and converted more people had he rallied people to pry planks off the ship rather than serenading.
simple prank questions. they don't make sense, since the story is very much gilded out of sense as well. a more sensibly glorized version can be found here,
