The White Rose and the Nightingale

The white rose and the nightingale.
Two things never meant to be.
The white rose a flower and the nightingale
a bird.
But the nightingale so dearly
loved the white rose, and every day it
would descend and sing its warbling songs
of love.
The white rose would shrink away, not afraid
of love ━ for it too, loved the nightingale ━ but of
nature’s retribution.
Still the nightingale was determined
to woo the white rose. It sang of defiance against
natural law, it sang of a vast love that would not be
restrained
by
boundaries.
Soon, the white rose was won over, and it opened
its petals, blooming to the beauty of the
nightingale’s song.
And from that union was born the
Red
Rose.

Romantic, no?
Now, let us rewind and go back
a bit. What if?
There was a separation of status. The white rose,
with her beauty and grace, was a fine noblewoman.
The nightingale, a lowly, but talented,
musician.
What if?
They were separated now not only
by nature’s law,
but by a very clear and pronounced
social
status.
And what if this time?
The white rose was not willing to return
the ardent love of the pleading nightingale, so concerned
was she by her high ranking.
Besotted nightingale still sang of a love greater
than life itself ━ poured heart and soul into
dedication to the one who had
captured him.
Only this time, this story doesn’t have such a
happy
ending.
