One a closer look, the original sentence should be understood as that Christian is defined ("mean no more by it than") by some as "a person who attempts to live a good life". Since a Muslem is not a Christian, he or she is not "a person who attempts to live a good life". I fail to see any flaws in his logic. Just my 2 cent.
