千金易得，一匠难求 (5)
回到家里跟太太说起跟这个公司谈判的结果，真是很令人感叹。从什么时候开始，工人阶级的地位给提得这么高了？按理说报价单上列的利润已经很好了，可这个公司还是捏三拿四的讲条件，送上门来的买卖也竟然可以不要。
其实象我们家这样，拿着钱找不到人给干活的在这里多的是。阿省，尤其是爱城，这两年经济真是不错。
阿省50年前，主要经济还是农牧业。自从50年代在赖赌客打出了第一口油井之后，石油天然气就迅速成为阿省的经济支柱。阿省政府每年的收入，很大一部分来自石油和天然气。据报导，石油每桶的价格每升一美金，阿省的财政收入就增加一点五个亿。天然气的价格每一百万BTU增加十美分，阿省的财政收入也增加一点五个亿。如果政府的预算是按石油二十美金，天然气按三美金制定，以现在石油天然气的价格，算算光政府每年就多收多少钱。
阿省的强大经济从五十年代起就吸引了各地很多移民。很多在油田工作的人都是从加拿大东部各省来的。阿省有一首很流行的歌，唱的就是这样的故事。
