XYZ,
My son received the invitation to test SAT through the Duke program this year but I throw the application away. Are there real benefits other than what you have mentioned (invitation to Duke)?
As for skipping grade, all the teachers that I have talked to do not recommend for it. The common concerns were that the student may not have opportunity to play with kids of his age and also he/she may be at a disadvantage in sports.
The real reason I think is that without skipping any grade, the student can have more fun as a kid. Of course this depends on the maturity of your kid. If the class is too boring, then it may not provide sufficient stimulus to their brain. As a result, their attention may turn to somewhere else.
Would like to know what you think about this. If I don't get a reply, I will call you tomorrow.
